Bartlett’s history began in 1844 when Luther Bartlett purchased a 320-acre farm. Over several years, Luther quickly became a prominent farmer and sheep breeder. In later years, the growing economy led to exponential land expansion. Luther subdivided 40 acres of property, and even donated half the land to the Chicago and Pacific Railroad for a train switching yard. The generous donations led to the town naming, and Luther remained a Bartlett resident until his passing in 1882. The town of Bartlett is just as picturesque as it is historical.
