Robert (Bob) McDaniel has owned Old Rivers Inn for the past 11 years. The original building operated as a bar during the prohibition era, but burned down years later. It was rebuilt in the 1950’s and has continued to function as a bar ever since. Old Rivers Inn is located along a bend on Route 14, and looks like a big old country home. Surrounded by large trees and foliage, with a small pond in the back and a wooden rustic interior, Old Rivers Inn is a warm and welcoming stop for travelers and locals alike.
Old Rivers Inn is a family run business, with only three staff members that include both Bob and his son. The friendly and familiar faces help to provide a comfortable atmosphere that keeps guests coming back. While most visitors reside in Woodstock, Old Rivers Inn is frequented by folks from Marengo, Harvard, and even Crystal Lake. Old Rivers Inn offers entertainment for all walks of life, including a jukebox, dartboard, pool table, and five video gaming machines. They have a small outdoor deck attached to the building, along with a large yard complete with picnic tables and horseshoe pits.
Old Rivers Inn offers their guests their favorite bar munchies including pizza, hot dogs, brats, polish sausage, and garlic bread. Guests can comfortably enjoy their food and beverages inside at the bar, outside on the deck, or in the yard weather permitting. Old Rivers Inn takes pride in their dive bar setting and simplistic nature that attracts both new and regular clientele. So whether you’re looking to relax to your favorite music, shoot some darts or pool, try your luck on some slot machines, or simply enjoy some warm grub with a cold beer, Old Rivers Inn has the cozy environment for it all.
